Wedgewood Pharmacy compounded veterinary medications (potency concern)

On Oct 21, 2026, Wedgewood Pharmacy announced a recall of certain compounded veterinary medications that may be too weak or too strong, because of inconsistencies in the reliability of some of its lab testing data. The products were shipped nationwide to veterinary practices, pharmacies, and other customers between Feb 18 and Oct 6, 2026, and are intended for companion, equine, exotic, zoo, wildlife, and aquatic animals — so this includes companion-animal medications, including ones many dogs take (gabapentin is among the most frequently listed products in Wedgewood’s lot lookup). The notice reports 98 complaints so far, 7 of them serious, but does not describe the specific complaints.

Please don’t stop a prescribed medication on your own without calling your veterinarian. If your veterinarian or the lot lookup shows your pet’s medication is an affected product, the notice says to stop use, keep the product, and call Wedgewood’s recall line at 866-562-5931. Zone updates Oct 20–23 (far west / southwest Texas)

TAHC issued more orders this week in far west and southwest Texas: Infested Zone 23 (parts of Brewster, Jeff Davis, Pecos, and Reeves) on Oct 20 after a bovine detection in Jeff Davis County; Zone 08.B (parts of Pecos and Terrell) on Oct 21 after an elk detection in Pecos County; Zone 24 (parts of Val Verde) on Oct 22 after a bovine detection in Val Verde County; and on Oct 23 TAHC released portions of Crockett and Pecos Counties from former Zone 12.A (the remaining area is now Zone 12.B). TAHC’s page now lists 18 Texas counties and 47 premises with a confirmed detection this outbreak. The Oct 20 order names Reeves County, which isn’t yet in the county list at the top of TAHC’s page. None of these four orders reports a dog or cat detection. Wichita County is still not on TAHC’s county notice — that is unverified locally, not zero risk. Always check the live TAHC map before travel with pets from or through restricted areas.

Fi dog supplements (Salmonella concern)

FDA posted a company announcement for Fi Calming and Fi 8-in-1 Formula dog supplements (lots 26118 and 26159) for possible Salmonella contamination. If you have those products, stop using them and follow the FDA notice for disposal.
